Yeah, but just look at you now- you’re once again a champeen kickboxer !!
Me, I’d rather take the blood tests and keep my prostate, thankyouverymuch. It’s bad enough I travel sometimes and worry that I’ll awaken in a bathtub filled with bloody ice cubes with a soaked bandage taped to my side and a note scrawled on the mirror in Maybelline Eye Pencil informing me that I’m now short a kidney.
I kind of like the parts I have. The sum is greater, after all. I say, let’s start a Keep A Firm Hold Of Your Prostate campaign !!!

I don’t know who “expects” this, except maybe the insurance companies (and they are all heartless bastards).
My sister had my nephew via C-section, and was in the hospital for about a week more. About 4 days after the C-section, she got dressed and walked about 2 blocks to the childrens intensive care ward to visit her baby. When she got back, she got majorly chewed out by the head nurse for that. They clearly didn’t think she was ready to be “up and about”.
I had to take a similar walk to the nicu after my second section. I had lots of pain meds on board and took forever and slept for three hours after each one hour visit with my son. Sections hurt like hades and it was 6 weeks before I got permission to drive again and 3 months before I really felt normal again!
I’ve got a high incidence of prostate cancer in my family (both my grandfather and great uncle died from it) but I’m a lot less worried after finding out about this:
A good point to remember about Surgery:
It is a traumatic procedure where your anatomy is forcibly restructured while you are (hopefully) rendered partially or completely insensate due to the effects of powerful drugs acting on your nervous system. After which, your body enters a catabolic state, where it is actively breaking down its resources in an effort to mitigate and repair damage. It can take weeks to months for this to be reversed and get back to an anabolic state where the body is happily building up vital proteins and oligosaccharides.
