Sweet Caroline, but only at Fenway Park in the 7th inning during a Sat afternoon game. Red Sox beating the Yankees, of course.
Well, far be it from me to abstain from a thread in honor of my admitting I like Neil, so let me offer:
Solitary Man
Thank the Lord for the Night Time
Shilo
Be
Brother Love’s etc. . .
Kentucky Woman
Cherry Cherry
Of course the list could go on, but those are my absolute must haves of his work.
Brother Love’s Travelling Salvation show is such a kick-ass song.
I also like September Morn.
Oooo, good one. I forgot that one.
I like him a lot, and I am not an animal! Hmm. Let’s see:
Sweet Caroline
Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show
Solitary Man
Thank the Lord for the Night Time (which is now stuck in my head, thankyewverymuch)
You Don’t Bring Me Flowers is cheesy but beautiful
I don’t really know any of his non-radio stuff. Maybe I should.
When I was a kid, “Song Sung Blue” (my older sister was a huge fan of ND)
I Am, I Said
Thank the Lord for the Nightime
Hot August Night
He’s Not Heavy, He’s My Brother
Solitary Man
Beautiful Noise
Lots.
but I tend to hate the ones I hate (either love 'em or hate 'em, that’s me)
so, I cringe at Blue Jeans, Turn on My Heartlight, Love on the Rocks, Coming to America–almost anything post Jonathon Livingston Seagull. I like his rock days, not his lounge act days.
YMMV.
Just about all of 'em. Neil Diamond’s songs are a good fit for my singing style.
Top 3 in order:
- Girl You’ll Be A Woman Soon
- Sweet Caroline
- Shilo
Holly Holy is one of the few Neil Diamond songs I have ripped to my computer: I however don’t like most of his live versions of it, as he seems to be trying too hard to emote or something like that. (Either that or he had a bad case of constipation while singing it, and he was straining to get it out. Your choice.)
As for his other songs, it really depends on the mood I’m in. In general: Hello Again and Song Sung Blue tend to be ones I enjoy.

Are you thinking of Chicago:
If you leave me now
you’ll take away the biggest part of me
oooh no, baby please don’t go
I used to think it was “For Reverend Blue Jeans”
“Sweet Caroline” always brings to mind the movie “Beautiful Girls” with Timothy Hutton singing along with his buds.
“Girl … You’ll Be a Woman Soon”
Er, yesterday, I think was the last time I heard it, Neil Diamond is in heavy rotation on my headphones when I’m exercising. Heh. But I know what you mean, though, one doesn’t hear it very often on the radio.
It’s hard to pick my absolute favorites, because really, I like just about anything he does, but at the moment my favorites are “Brooklyn Roads,” “If You Know What I Mean,” “Sweet Caroline” (of course), “September Morn,” and “You Got to Me.”
I have to skip past “He’s Not Heavy” if I’m listening to Neil in public, because cheese-fest or not, it makes me cry like nobody’s business.
BTW, “Solitary Man” is on “The Greatest Hits 1966 - 1992”
