So what your saying to the question I am attempting to ask (what do you get out of the SDMB) is that for you it’s self evident and doesn’t require any explanation.
You might (and FTR I could care less) also be implying that my question is evidence that I don’t instantly get the wonderful nature of the SDMB. That’s your interpretation. Maybe I am interested in why people do the peculiar things they do and I don’t want to assume their reasons for it. If wanting to hear about someone’s experience makes me a sheep that needs herding then so be it.
And don’t be fooled, you can learn something from everyone. I learned how I don’t want to be today.
I hear pun safety is slated for the next great debate.

I looked at your previous posts here. I didn’t see any learning curve going on. They seemed to be pretty much the same. . . just like this thread.

I tried out a few other message boards prior to settling here. One of the things I most appreciate about this board is the lack of one-sidedness. Opposing opinions are not only tolerated here they are expected. The moderators do not stifle posters who disagree with them. There is even a forum dedicated to flaming although I have not been brave enough to post there often.
Add that to wonderful humor and conversations on nearly every subject I care to discuss made the decision to stick around very easy.
It will finely hone your sense of superiority.

There are categories to place all of my stupid thoughts and questions.
That’s a bit like turning up to the Savoy and boasting about having stayed at the Motel 6.

Also, this really is a place where just about anyone can find a topic to pedantically argue the minutea condescendingly.
For me, it’s a daily lesson in humility.

Also, do a search for SDMB in the title. There’s a thread like this every month.
If you vaguely remember a book, movie or TV show & can give a few details about it, someone will come up with an identification & more details on it than you need within 24 hours.
And it’s a welcome relief from the illiterate idiocy that shows up in most places on the Net where people interact.
