Why are the blues called the “blues”. Why was that color chosen to represent the emotion or concept of “feeling blue”. You know, phrases like “Green with envy”, I’m sure have their derivation so why is blue given its current definitions of: sadness, wanting, despondency, longing etc etc. Thanks.
