Why The DEARTH of UFO Sightings Today?

Fromwhat I read, UFO sightings peaked in the USA around 1958…those were the great days of real nuts like the late George Adamski (who claimed to have spoken to the inhabitants of Venus, among other things).
Anyway, given the tremendous interest in the possibility of extra-terrestriallife (as seen on this board), why do we have so few UFO “sightings” today?
I haven’t seen or read anything about UFOs in the papers for years…yet, if the UFO nuts are to be believed, this palnet should be CRAWLING with bug-eyed, little green men (who like to stick pins into humans, for some unknown reason).
So, psychologists, why the big dearth of these sightings? Are people just more sceptical thesedays? Or has the whole phenomena played itself out?

They finally found invisible metal.

I wish. I think most people believe in the things, they just assume only rednecks see them.

<moron conspiracy>Or maybe THEY have SILENCED the people who KNOW TOO MUCH…</moron conspiracy>

UFOs are everywhere if you just know how to look!

I think it’s because we’re actually–believe it or not–more educated than in olden times.

Cause the advancement of video technology has made hoaxers less able to fool us…
(yeah I know that with the advancement of technology in video that it would become easier for people to fake ufo sightings, but so has the means in which we can debunk them)

I’m with NoClueBoy. It’s plainly an advance in UFO technology. Now they’re able to abduct people without being spotted.

I’m citeless, but I’m sure alien abduction reports are a more recent phenomenon than UFO sightings. Aren’t people getting abducted more in recent years?
