Why the hate for Elon Musk?

You linked to something totally irrelevant. You keep insisting there is more to the plan that what is shown on the page. The fact that it says “Executive Summary” but has no link to the full report nor mentions that a full report exists makes the rushed nature of the plan even more apparent. I’ll ask again, why do you think the page Beasley linked to (or the “See Full Plan Here” link on the page) is an executive summary of the full report you linked to? What’s the connection? What did I miss?

The truth is not a democracy.

My complete debunking of the “Musk didn’t consult with anyone/any experts/Thailand authorities/blah blah” against the tide of posters in this thread should convince you of that.

The issue for both is they are not fact based criticisms.

Well that’s the thing Kimstu. You don’t need to trust me as a reliable source because I’m not a source. All you need to do is read the evidence I provide.

Are you really this obtuse?

Could you just answer the question?

What question? You keep complaining that there is no way to find the report because the link in the cited tweet only links to a summary, and then when provided with a direct link to the The WFP Global Operational Response Plan: Update #3 – November 2021 claiming that there is no way to find that even though I found it in literally twenty seconds of searching for it. You could not more assiduously be avoiding the evidence put in front of you if you stuck your fingers in your ears and screamed, “LALALALALALALAICANTHEARYOU!!!”

But all of this is a complete tangent to the essential point that Elon Musk claimed to be willing to sell Tesla stock and use some portion of his wealth to fight world hunger; if Musk were sincere, he wouldn’t let the fact that he couldn’t figure out how to find a plan, and would instead contact David Beasley or someone else at WFP, or UNESCO, or at any number of other organizations working on the problems of famine in the developing world. Of course he didn’t do this because he isn’t sincere and his only real interest in making and publicizing such a donation was to reduce the tax burden in a year when he had to exercise a large number of stock options and sought public adulation for doing so, so he donated the money to an “unidentified trust”.

Are you really this obtuse?

I’m asking you how you mentally link the report you searched for to anything linked in Beasley’s response? This shouldn’t be hard. Is it because they are on the same site? Same subject? If this was your shot at getting a $6B, don’t you think the absolute minimum WFP would do would be to provide a link to this report that you found?

David Beasley provided a link to a summary of how the requested $US6.6B would be allocated across nations with an invitation to talk further. He likely assumed that Musk would have little interest in reading a detailed report, which seems eminently astute. In any case, Musk made no apparent effort to follow up with the WFP or any other organization involved in tackling the problem of famine and food scarcity, instead pivoting his attentions to petty social media ‘fights’ and purchasing Twitter to promote “free speech”, as if this has ever been a pressing concern for him.

Thanks for not answering my question… again.

Your question has been answered again and again and again, but because your entire focus is in ignoring every bit of evidence that has been put in front of you by multiple posters in this thread and on the several other threads of your singular fixation as a poster is in consecrating Elon Musk, you continue to insist that everyone else is somehow completely wrong and only you are present the real truth.

If Elon Musk actually intended to donate money or gave a tinker’s dam about solving world hunger, he could pick up a phone or ask his secretary to set up an appointment, instead of just shrugging his shoulders and saying “Oh well, can’t find the link, guess I’ll let people starve due to my inaction.”

But Elon Musk was never serious about solving world hunger, because Elon Musk is not a serious person with serious ideas and is too busy loving the smell of his own farts and getting his name in headlines for the lulz than actually doing something productive with his blood money.

I just can’t wait to see the disappointment on the faces of the people who think he’s going to turn Twitter into a free speech utopia when he gets bored with it and forgets about it and instead decides to teach a robot to smoke weed.

You still haven’t answered. You posted a link to a report as a “gotcha ya”, and had a couple of posters already taking your side (which is proving my point throughout this thread). But when it’s shown that there really is no link between that report and the tweet, it’s just something you fabricated to try to prove a point, you keep dodging and avoiding and trying to dismiss.

This is you yet again in another thread accusing me of lying. KNOCK IT THE FUCK OFF OR TAKE IT TO THE PIT!

On the whole, this thread is such a low for the Straight Dope, and for the cause of fighting ignorance.

Re: twitter… My prediction is that if Musk implements the abrupt changes he has advocated for (“if it’s not violating the law it’s should be allowed”), I think the popularity of twitter will dramatically decrease in the short term due to the generally positive attitude about Twitter (as a company) to something more negative because it has a controversial personality associate with it. I wouldn’t be surprised if it went into a death spiral and crashed and burned and something else took it’s place. It will be interesting to watch how this turns out.

Or, you know, just answer my question… or just ignore and move on.

I agree. Thank you.

Dial it back, please. This is IMHO, not the Pit.

@Stranger_On_A_Train and @nate, let’s stop this back and forth. If the two of you cannot behave in this thread you will both be banned from it.

Exactly. Other billionaires may be evil, but at least they’re grownups. Musk is like the little kid from “It’s a Good Life”, if that kid smoked weed.
