OK, I amsure it is possible to buy it somewhere, but I finally fucking get my wife to agree to a newwork throughout our apartment on one condition, that the cables do not look ugly and they are white.
So I go to like literaly 12 stores to look for it. Everything is GREY! Who the hell wants grey cables? Of course most networks are behind walls, but it is now getting popular to have you own network isn’t it?
Am I the only one who finds this insane?
If anyone knows of a place to buy about 50 feet of “white” ethernet cable, please let me know. We were thinking about just painting the cable white, but that is super ghetto and a real pain in the arse!
thanks, I did some looking, and found every fruit flavor on the planet, excpet white. I even checked Belkin’s homepage (the maker of the link you sent) , but they did not have this.
The real point is stores like Comp USA and Best Buy which are primariliy targeted to consumers should carry white cable not industrial grey.

p.s. your internet comment is annoying, but your help appreciated.
Dude, I worked at Best Buy for a year, and we carried 50 foot lengths of white, gray, or blue cat 5. If you can’t find it, just use throw rugs or something.
Friend, you might get more responses (and more polite responses)if you didn’t take such an angry tone. Is it our fault you can’t find what you’re looking for?
Phone wire is not able to support Ethernet data transmission, even at the relatively slow speed of 10 Mb/sec. The wire you may be thinking of is Category 3, which was commonly used for data/voice because you can buy one type of cable for both. Nowadays, installing anything less than Category 5 is not recommended, if only because upgrading the network at a later date requires pulling new cable.
Invest in good cable, as it will help prevent communication problems. Case in point: One of the computers on my network wouldn’t communicate beyond basic pings, even though I had a link light. Dropping the connection speed showed I had a bad patch cable in there. Good cable will eliminate many causes of network errors.
I am totally in tune with your gripe blade. No white? It’s whack!! A few months I was looking for a 100 foot white cat 5 cable to match my crib so I went to Radio Shack and they tried to sell me four 25 foot beige cables and a pair of couplers. How Bogus!!! I told the clueless sales clerk to cram the cables up his ass and put a battery card up there for good measure. I tried Circuit City but all they had were 25 foot cables and no white. The salesperson said most people didn’t care about color! I was so pissed I got into his grill and told him “I do! You ass munching jerkoff! I need white! WHITE ! WHITE!” I can’t go back there now but it was worth it.
