Why the King James Bible?

www.google.com search for “Are catholics pagans” should see quiet a few protestant sermons on it

And the little jew is cute.

You see…some of us would rather see a rigteous nation, with freedom of religion…Most of you would rather persecute anyone who beleives differently than you do. You really can’t stand it can you?

Thats why christians had to found this country,…atheists would start countries like Communist China and murder christians.

No, because it is a fact that it is.

Psalm 22:16 KJV
*Dogs have compassed me; the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me; they pierced my hands and my feet. *

This is an incorrect translation. It IS flawed. It was translated to fit the idea that Psalm 22 aludes to Christ’s crucifixion. The correct translation from the Hebrew is:

Dogs have encompassed me. A company of evildoers has enclosed me; like a lion, they are at my hands and my feet.

There is nothing about piercing hands and feet in the translation, there is no allusion to the crucifixion. It is flawed. It is not correct.

It is wrong. Period end.

Which is really pretty irrelevant. I have already pointed out that there are some people who choose to believe as you do. What I challenged was your (false) blanket claim that “protestants” and “mormons” (as if all Protestants and all Mormons, or even a majority) shared that belief.

This sort of silly sniping is better suited to the BBQ Pit, but I would note that the closest thing we have to “persecution” in this thread is your name-calling that you have failed to support with evidence.

Actually, most of the early settlers who came for religious reasons did not come for freedom to worship in the way that they chose, so much as to avoid having to associate with other people who also expressed a desire for religious freedom. That is why the Puritans who populated the Bay Colony had such harsh laws against non-Puritans and why they expelled Roger Smith and why there were anti-Catholic laws passed in most of the colonies. They did not want religious freedom, they wanted religious dominance.

Regardless, it is pretty obvious that you are only interested in hurling your opinions around without actually supporting them, so we should probably knock off this hijack about the various Christian denominations.

(Unfortunately, because I think that many people use the KJV for perfectly valid reasons, I suspect that you have certainly answered the OP as to why some groups cling to the KJV.)

See? This is what happens when fundamentalist nutjobs homeschool…

Cite? And have you ever heard of Humanism?

Don’t bother, Caira. Our little, incredibly dense playmate crossed the line once too many times. He’s not answering any more questions.
