An adjustment of my previous post: Visa/MC gift cards can expire in CA. The expiration date is posted on the front like a regular credit card and is usually 2 or so years in the future. It may be possible to receive a new one if the time expires, depending on the issuer. This is perhaps the type of card that AT&T issues. When I worked at a bank, we sold these. I also got a BofA visa gift card a few years ago. It was the worst deal I have seen, it lost a certain percent of its value monthly.
