Why this detail in Wiki?

I was looking up Hugo Eckener and the opening line was this:

Dr. Hugo Eckener (Monday, August 10, 1868 – Saturday, August 14, 1954. Hugo Eckener’s lifetime, in weeks and days was 31,414 days, equalling 4,487 weeks and 5 days.
Anyone have any idea why the detail about how many days he lived?

The talk page reveals that there is at least one source that lists an incorrect date. I would guess that it does include the amount of time in some fashion, and that is used as proof that the date was a typo. In order to avoid being accused of “Original research” they included both the date and the amount of time he spent alive.

On the other hand, it looks like the editor who put that in is just a bit of a dates nut, and maybe thought he was being clever or something.

I’m tempted to ask on the talk page if anybody else thinks that is an unneeded detail.

It seems to be a particular user, who has added similar details to other article. See their User Contributions, and in particular the edit to Jon Benet Ramsey. They seem to be particularly interested in dates for some reason.

I’ve undone the edit, as it seems to be unnecessary.

Meh. That’s what I get for following their assume good faith rule.

Wiki is good for general info but they won’t get into the nitty gritty. They don’t talk about drugs and alcohol and anything they could get sued for.
