BUZZZZZ Thank you for playing.
Earthlink will do direct debit from your checking account. Granted, it may be more intrusive, but hey, that information can be gleamed from anybody you have ever written a check.

From the looks of this thread, the reason AOL is more expensive is because they give it away free to too many people.
I used AOL briefly between MSN and Ameritech (both of which also do the debit from your checking account-thing, by the way). I am convinced that AOL is great for the less computer-inclined, but for the techno-geeks, it doesn’t cut it. It comes pre-installed on most computers, they advertise more than any other ISP, and so people who don’t know any better fall for it. Then they stick with what they know.
but me personally, I still think it sucks. I used in 98 (I think) and ICQ wouldn’t function on it, the only IM at the time. I called tech support and they couldn’t fix it either. Now they have their own IM - I wonder if other IMs will work on AOL, or if you have to use theirs…
AOL 7.0 now ships with ICQ installed and it practically DEMANDS to be installed on your PC. I’ve got AOL (too lazy to change over, I’ve had AOL since they went to the unlimited usage for one price back in 95 or 96), and I can use Micro$oft’s IM program as well. Yeah, there’s problems with AOL, but until I can afford a cable modem, it’ll do.
When I seriously started using online stuff you couldnt use a debit card So you just told them it was a visa ect cuase of some odd federal law
Dosent aol own icq these days ? I remeber when aim came out one sued the other and aol just bought icq out
