Why was Jessie's Girl So Amazing?

For some reason I had it in my head that this song was a response to another song in which a woman went on about her love for Jessie.

I have no idea where that came from.

Y’know, I have always gotten a gay vibe from that song. Maybe it’s the “Ain’t that the way love’s supposed to be?” line–the guy’s going through the motions of attraction because it’s a role, not because he wants to. At least that’s how the song has always struck me.

From the horse’s mouth (so to speak):

This post is a guitar solo.

It ain’t hard to define.
He = Has girl.
Me = Want to make her, or someone like her, mine.

So it’s all just a charade? Something to play along with? Well, can you think of a reason not to?

Enjoy,
Steven

Maybe she’s bipolar. (Or is it borderline.) What man could resist?

Years after the original release, the song gained far greater meaning for me when I started thinking of Jessie as Uncle Jesse from “Full House” and, as follows, “Jess(i)e’s Girl” became Lori Loughlin.

Lori Loughlin.
Yum.
