Why was Moses a basket case?

My wife saw a clever saying on a sign in front of a church, and couldn’t remember it exactly. I was wondering if anyone might have heard the same thing. It was the beginning that has slipped her mind.

It was “_____________________________________ , after all, even Moses was a basket case.”

Or something like that.

Any ideas?

Pharoah ordered the killing of all male infants to try to prevent a prophecy from coming true. Moses’ mother put him in a basket of reeds and sent him down the nile. He was found by one of Pharoah’s wives, and raised as a child of Pharoah (Ramses).

Moses grew up as Egyptian Royalty, but left to lead the Jews out of slavery.

I thought the Moses story was pretty well known, even among non-Christians. Whether it actually happened is probably best left for Great Debates.

It probably just said something like “Nobody’s perfect.” That’d fit.

No, I think the OP is asking, “What’s the rest of the church sign?” Googling “even Moses was a basket case” brings up this.

It comes in several variations, like, “Have hope–even Moses was once a basket case…”

It’s not that funny, as church signs go.
