Why Was Slapstick Once Considered Funny?

Slapstick appears to be hard-wired into us; some nonhuman primates even appear to appreciate it, seeing it stimulates activity in a portion of the brain that we share with them whereas other types of humor don’t.

Primates? Hell, you know your cat is just waiting for you to trip so it can laugh at you.

One very succesful non-musical currently on Broadway, The Play That Goes Wrong, is a parody of live theater that includes ***a lot ***of “accident comedy”.

This sounds like a fun time. Will put that on my radar.

Reminds me of an episode of the TV show Children’s Hospital where they did a parody of a “live” episode where everything that could go wrong while filming live TV does.

I didn’t even see them, but lots of people did. Same with those shitty Adam Sandler movies he cranks out, they always have some whacky slapstick scene where someone gets elaborately hit in the nuts complete with eyes crossed, or those dreadful Tyler Perry in drag movies, or those dreadful Scary Movie movies; they all have a lot of slapstick in them and they all have been created recently.
