For a somewhat New Wave sound, check out: The Bravery, Franz Ferdinand, or The Killers. There’s lots more out there I am sure but these three are in heavy rotation on KROQ and what I hear the most. Not New Wave per se, but there’s a lot of that element there: ambient guitar work, electronic sound, etc. Very reminiscent. And there’s some band that I swear is Oingo Boingo when it comes on but it isn’t.

How long has this post been here? My eyes weant right over it. Sorry about that, Sausage Creature. Those are some great suggestion. Thank you.

The first recorded description of the social interactions that could be enabled through networking was a series of memos written by J.C.R. Licklider of MIT in August 1962 discussing his “Galactic Network” concept. He envisioned a globally interconnected set of computers through which everyone could quickly access data and programs from any site. In spirit, the concept was very much like the Internet of today. Licklider was the first head of the computer research program at DARPA, 4 starting in October 1962. While at DARPA he convinced his successors at DARPA, Ivan Sutherland, Bob Taylor, and MIT researcher Lawrence G. Roberts, of the importance of this networking concept.

In reality, such a concept began practicle use by the summer of 69. Played the guitar till my fingers bled, was the summer of 69…

Were was I? Oh yeah. The internet isn’t this “www” stuff, it’s that, plus ftp, email, remote access, usenet, telnet, “the well”, and so on. Besides, the first non-college mainstream use of it was with BBS,(Bulletin Board Systems) which is very 80s. http://www.bbsdocumentary.com/
