Why were they out to get Palfrey?

I don’t know if there is a confirmable factual answer.

The late Deborah Jeane Palfrey was hounded by the feds and tried on racketeering charges for running a prostitution ring out of California. This was not a particularly high-priced escort service, such as the one used by former New York governor Spitzer. This was an operation that grossed an average of about $154K a year, hardly the biggest game in town.

With so many bigger fish to fry, why did the feds go after Palfrey? There must be hundreds if not thousands of operations doing the same thing on this scale.

She had high profile politically connected clients. Perhaps there were political motivations to go after her as opposed to your run of the mill madam.

She was booking the calls nationwide from her location. That’s a criminal enterprise that crosses state lines - and if the feds didn’t go after this, I’d be after the feds.

Plus, typically prostitution has been merely part of larger organized crime networks, so no matter how small it appears, it might be part of something much, much larger.

Perhaps, like Henry I, they fear a surfeit of palfreys?

“Wee laddy for a Palfrey…”

I think most, if not all, of the client list is already in evidence, and some/all of the list has also been released to the media , so the point (and risk) of someone killing her at this stage in the game is not really evident.
