Why won't Bricker come out and play?

Curiously, all those who participated in the initial pileon in the Swiftboat thread are quiet now that the facts disprove their kneejerk Bush-bashing assumptions.

I suspect that the people that watch Jon Stewart are the same people that think the Scary Movie series and Meet The Parents are top-notch entertainment, too. As for myself, I think that they are inane, boorish, and arrogant, and I do not find them funny at all. Especially that douchebag Colbert.

I love TDS, hate the movies you name. what does that do to your theory?

Nothing at all. What makes you think it’s a theory? I was generalizing based upon things that I absolutely loathe. The only fact involved in all of this is that I think that they are horribly unfunny and would not shed a single tear were they to get cancelled. Hentor decided that my opinion was wrong based upon strength of numbers, when it’s not wrong for that very reason: it’s my opinion.

Wow, let me see if I can emulate this remarkable logic:

(a) I don’t like rap music
(b) I don’t like broccoli
(c) Therefore, people who like rap music also like broccoli, even though the two have nothing to do with each other.

Here’s another one:

(a) I don’t agree with Airman’s point-of-view
(b) I don’t find the same value in Airman’s opnion that others do
(c) Airman’s never done anything to personally affront me
(d) Therefore, Airman’s a douchebag

Impressive.

That is a pretty piss poor suspicion. I like Stewart a lot and Colbert is okay. I think Scary Movie and its sequels were useless. What is Meet The Parents? If it involves Ben Stiller, I probably think it stinks.

Jon Stewart mainly allows news people and politicians to ‘write’ the humor themselves. He has a constant supply of humorous stupidity from which to choose. Just because you do not like Stewart is no reason to denigrate his fans.

Why the sudden attack out of nowhere? Jon Stewart is popular. He does have a large college following. I guess many of them do like the movies you mentioned but I would think many college kids that can’t stand Jon Stewart also like those movies.

Makes him look like the douchebag he really is in spite of all the praise he gets around here for renouncing his full-fledged allegiance to BushCo’s neocons and being in the military (reverence, of course, due).

Not a theory BTW.

I don’t think it was a theory. Just a lame attempt to insult people that like The Daily Show for some odd reason.

Is there any middle ground between a stupid post and being a douche bag?

I think his post was stupid, I do not see the reason to leap to that equals him being a douche bag. He has views that disagree with you. Why does that equal douche bag?

If that’s your opinion, you’re welcome to it. My viewpoint with regard to opinions, both mine and others’, hasn’t changed since this trainwreck of a thread, and it’s not likely to.

Hardly out of nowhere, my friend. I’ve been on the record about this for a long time.

No, simply a retort to Hentor’s retort. If you choose to blow it all out of proportion, that’s your choice.

It’s perfectly understandable to not like a show. Just throwing in two terrible juvenile movies seemed like you were trying to insult people that did like it. I didn’t know you history of hating the show. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, yeah. I said in the other thread that I was thinking about locking out Comedy Central. A year later I’m still contemplating it, only adding the Food Network as well (I can’t stand Alton Brown, either).

If I do that it’ll make for some very quiet evenings, because that’s about all Robin watches. If I lock out TNT as well she’ll never watch TV again, because that would get rid of the abysmal Law and Order, too.

Anyway, I hate hijacking threads, and this is definitely a hijack. If you like you can continue this elsewhere, but I think we can let this get back on topic. I thought it was an innocuous throwaway line. I should have known better.

proof you have abysmal taste.

I wasn’t aware it was possible for someone to not like Alton Brown.

Alton Brown. Being married to a chef helps for knowing these kinds of things :).

I’m fairly sure I never said you were wrong for any reason. I suspect you’re right - you don’t find The Daily Show funny. I don’t know if that is because you are a conservative and therefore lack a sense of humor, unless it is braindead hostile bashing of the “Janet Waco” variety; or if it is because you are a conservative and it hurts your feelings when he makes jokes about things you care about.

I do know that the Daily Show is funny. It is also popular, suggesting that many people find it funny.

I also thought Meet the Parents was very funny. I don’t care much for Scary Movie movies.

Whatever the fuck this is all about, it is quite douchebagish.

Why is it braindead and hostile to say Janet Waco? I’ll admit, it’s not laugh outloud funny, but are you seriously denying her association with that clusterfuck just because she was part of a Democratic administration?

It’s a hacky joke with no real wit, the kind Jon Stewart would be highly unlikely to have made.
