Why would you say that in a song?

I love Eric Clapton but his song Cocaine was a bad message to people.

If you wanna hang out, you’ve gotta take her out: Cocaine
If you wanna get down, get down on the ground: Cocaine
She’s alright,
She’s alright,
She’s alright,
COCAINE
If you got that lose, you wanna kick them blues: Cocaine
When your day is done, and you wanna ride on Cocaine
She’s alright,
She’s alright,
She’s alright,
COCAINE

Another good song but a very bad message is Hey Joe

ARTIST: Jimi Hendrix
TITLE: Hey Joe Hey Joe, where ya goin with that gun in your hand
Hey Joe, I said where ya goin’ with that gun in your hand I’m goin’ down to shoot my old lady now
You know I caught her messin’ round with another man
I’m goin’ down to shoot my old lady
You know I caught her messin’ round with another man
Huh, and that ain’t to cool Hey Joe, I heard you shot your woman down
You shot her down down.
Hey Joe, I heard you shot your lady down
You shot her down to the ground Yes, I did, I shot her
You know I caught her messin round, messin’ round town
Yes, I did, I shot her
You know I caught my old lady messin’ round the town
And I gave her the gun, I shot her

How about:

  1. “Wishing/Hoping/Etc.” or whatever the hell it was called. The one used at the beginning of “My Best Friend’s Wedding.” Sample lyric:

Apparently by becoming a Stepford Girl, and not being an independent thinker.

  1. “Country Death Song” by the Violent Femmes (A band I love, BTW). Sample lyric:

Hmm…

Closer, but still missing the mark. If you listen to the remainder of the lyric, it ONLY makes sense if it goes like this:

“But IF this ever changin’ world in which we’re livin’
Makes you give in and cry
Say ‘Live and let die.’”

I was incredibly disappointed when I realized this.

I could have done without the following lyric from Beastie Boys’ “Paul Revere”:

I did it like this
I did it like that
I did it with a whiffle-ball bat
!!!

Well, actually, it’s a little-used expression meaning ejaculation.

Bleah, still.

Ahhh, we haven’t had a discussion about “the little death” here on the SDMB in some time.
