Wi fi boosters

I live in an assisted living facility that has a Wave Broadband acct. meant primarily for the first floor where admin. is located. However, you can get the wi fi signal on the second floor where I live. My ability to connect to it is very hit and miss. I am trying to decide if I should bite the bullet and get my own acct., which I really can’t afford, or if I should buy a wi fi range extender, booster, etc.

Amazon has them for a reasonable price of $25.00 to $50.00. I don’t know if they are any good or not. Right now I have a small Netgear device that is 4 yrs old and it can’t seem to do the job very well at all.

I really need some input on this as I am not great with computers. Should I invest in a device in the 25-50 dollar range or not?

Thanks

If you decide to buy one, I have this one, $24.18, and it works very well.

If the signal is very weak and spotty in your apartment, then adding a signal booster might help, or it may not. Boosters work best when they are placed between you and the main router, boosting the signal for further distance. Is there any way to place the booster between your apartment and the router? If so, it may boost the signal to you. I use a booster to get my wifi to my outbuilding, and it works. I have to reboot it now and again, but it definitely extends the signal.
