Jar Jar -> silent film -> Silent Movie -> Paul Newman -> Newman’s Own -> salad dressing -> bacon -> bacon bits
Seven steps. That sucked.
Jar Jar -> silent film -> Silent Movie -> Paul Newman -> Newman’s Own -> salad dressing -> bacon -> bacon bits
Seven steps. That sucked.
Matchbox (cars) -> United Kingdom -> Charles Dickens -> Edgar Allan Poe
Try harder!
GAH! That’s twice in a row I’ve been beaten to the punch because of our blasted connection speed here at work!
Since you didn’t issue a new challenge, can I suggest:
blacksmith to USB
Blacksmith -> Arc welding -> Electrode -> Semiconductor -> computers -> USB
Ha! I’m down to 5
Polyvinyl chloride
Surely that can’t be easy!
BTW, what a fun game!
Blacksmith
Steel
Major Appliances
Camcorder
USB 2.0 (which redirects to Universal Serial Bus)
Bah, beaten to the punch
PVC ->Chemical Industry ->Urea->Urine->Urethra->sexual intercourse->human sexuality->safe sex->sexually transmitted disease->Chlamydia->Chlamydia infection
Holy crap that was hard.
Julius Caesar -> Nigel Winterburn
Piece o’ cake.
PVC -> health -> condom -> sexually transmitted disease -> Chlamydia
Polyvinyl Chloride -> Endometriosis -> Cervix -> Human Papilloma Virus -> Chlamydia
What’s the ruling here? Baffle got it first, but TDN got it in less steps.
Also, for some reason, the coupling of Frenulum clitoridis to Vincentio Reineri has me doing my best to stifle laughter in my cube.
f. clitoris -> frenulum -> mouth -> organism -> Thomas Cavalier-Smith -> University of Oxford -> Roman Catholic Church -> Galileo Galilei -> Galileo affair -> Vincentio Reinieri.
10 steps… 11 for the last one… I’m not posting a new thing to match because I’m sure someone can do it better.
Great game! (Alas, at dial-up speeds I really can’t play.)
One question, has anyone else noticed that unlike the normal degrees of separation games these chains often won’t go backwards? i.e. they’re usually a one-way chain. Getting from the end point of any of the previous challenges back to its beginning is a whole different challenge.
I can get a pretty short chain going from Vincentio to f. clitoris by going through Galileo and thermometer, but that’s definitely a tough one. Especially when the starting page is really short, it limits your options to connect to.
Frenulum Clitoridis > Clitoris > Italy > Galileo > Italian Mathematians > Vincentio Reineri
5 is the best I could do.
Ah, better.
Frenulum clitoridis -> hymen -> virginity -> Roman Catholic Church -> Galileo Galilei -> Galileo affair -> Vincentio Reinieri
7 links, that’s good enough to post a new thing to link:
Grimmelshausen (place) ->Grimmelshausen (writer) -> Brecht -> Jean-Luc Goddard ->filmmaker ->Hitchcock ->Norm
Eh, so-so.
Howsabout Erasmus to Carrot Top
Erasmus > Augustine of Hippo > St. Augustine (disambiguation) > St. Augustine, Florida > Florida > Brevard County > Cocoa, Florida > Carrot Top.
7, ouch.
Little Caesars - Wikipedia to Mudrarakshasa - Wikipedia
(I did it in five.)
Are meta-pages like ‘what links here’ and ‘list of pages’ acceptable in the degrees themselves? Or do we have to actually find links through real articles?
(This hasn’t been a problem so far, but I’m curious.)
Took me 6:
Little Caesars - Turkey - Greece - Alex the Great - Porus - Malayketu
OK:
to
The first is the town I grew up in. The second is what I was convinced, as a wee tyke, was going to fall on our house and kill us.
Little Ceasars -> Phillipines -> Southeast Asia -> India -> Punjab -> History of Punjab -> Porus -> Malayketu
Wow, that sucked.
That town > United States > John F. Kennedy > NASA > Skylab
(By the way, I did Little Caesars > Lebanon > Alexander the Great > Porus> Malayketu)
