In the 1993 ABC cyberpunk miniseries Wild Palms – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Palms – the McGuffin of the story, which the megalomaniacal Senator Kreutzer was trying to obtain, was a piece of computer technology called the “Go chip.” But I was never clear on the purpose or function of the “Go chip.” Something to do with achieving personal immortality as a downloaded mind, I think. Does anybody remember?
Sorry. The only things I remember about that mini are the rhino, the Edwardian collars, and Cory Matthews as the Naziesque uberkind.
That was Ben Savage.
So was Cory Matthews.
I remember Angie Dickinson as a scary, psychotic, sexually obsessed she-devil. Nice.
I think the “Go chip” was supposed to allow a human mind to be completely encoded into a computer network – as happens to the Senator.
