Will Air America return to L.A.?

I was happy when I moved to Irvine (near L.A.) because I thought I would finally be able to get Air America on my radio. Alas, this was not to be.

I gather there’s some kind of legal dispute disallowing them from broadcasting over the station they were going to be using.

What’s the straight dope? Is this dispute going to be settled? Or will Air America come to L.A. by some other station? Or is there no hope?

Am I wholly mistaken? Can I in fact get Air America and just haven’t looked at the right station? (I’ve tried the ones listed for Riverside and even San Diego and even Santa Barbara… no dice…)

I shall bump once.

About two weeks ago, fed up with the awful state of radio here in L.A., I went out and got XM radio, and couldn’t be happier. In addition to great music stations for almost any style you could possibly want to hear with incredibly deep playlists, XM also has Air America (channel 167). For some reason, it’s called ‘America Left’ on XM, but it’s the same thing (verified by the Air America web site).

Sorry, I don’t know anything about the airwaves situation of Air America. But I highly recommend XM (or Sirius, which apparently it’s on as well), not just for the Air America, but all your radio listening, as well.

You can listen to Air America live on your interweb machine: http://www.airamericaradio.com/listen.asp

Sorry to bump a month old thread, but I want to point out that XM’s “America Left” is not the full Air America feed that you hear on airamericaradio.com, or on Sirius, or various local Air America affiliates. According to this schedule (PDF), America Left doesn’t carry The Mike Malloy Show, The Kyle Jason Show, or The Revolution Starts Now. Instead, they play Alan Colmes and Ed Schultz’s shows, which are not part of Air America. (Some local affiliates do the same thing.)

OTOH, Sirius has a dedicated stream for all of Air America’s programming. They do have Ed Schultz and Alan Colmes, but those shows are on a separate stream (TalkLeft).
