Will allergies affect my bloodwork?

I need to have my bloodwork (re*)done for my upcoming surgery. I’ve been suffering from allergies and I’m concerned about how it may affect my results. Do allergies elevate white blood cell counts? Or anything else?

  • it has to be done within the 30 days prior to your surgery. I had mine done in time for my September surgery date, but since they cancelled that one, it’s now been too long to use those results.

Allergies shouldn’t elevate your white cell count significantly but you may have a higher percentage of eosinophils (a type of white cell) than normal.

I’ve never had a problem with preop blood result when it’s been the height of my allergy season.

that’s why they ask you all those darn qeustions about medications, allergies, etc.
