Will bay leaves transfer scent to heated wax?

I have lots of bay leaves available and I’d like to make bay leaf scented candles. Will heated wax extract the scent. What will and still be usable in candle making? Water does, but of course water and wax don’t mix.

I never knew previously that bay leaves turn water red.

Bay leaves heated in wax do not produce a scented candle. Don’t waste your resources with this method. I didn’t expect anybody here to really know the answer. Now you do.

Bay leaf oil is soluble in alcohol.

If you want bay leaf scented candles, a good method would be to make a solution in alcohol, then remove the alcohol and use the resulting oil in your wax.

Of course, you really don’t want to do this unless you have appropriate equipment and some basic lab safety. Never evaporate alcohol into open air - this is a Bad Idea.

Steam extraction apparently also works:
