If the order had been given to send aircraft/ people to Libya, it would have been about 3 hours before they arrived. Had the intel then indicated that they could be used, they would be in position to be used instead of still being in Italy.
Had the intel still not been available they could have waited in the air till the limits of their fuel was reached, or they could have landed in Tripoli.
Not doing anything at all is wrong in so many ways.
So explain to me why, when they knew it was a pre planned terrorist attack, Obama told the UN and the world that it was all about a VDO.
Yes, apparently the “best military in the world” couldn’t respond to an attack on American soil ( the consulate ) because it didn’t have the ability to refuel.
Surely that is grounds for an investigation all on its own.
Since when do American aircraft need to refuel after only 3 hours flying time.
If this was after Pearl Harbour, and they were considering sending planes to bomb Tokyo, I don’t think they would have done it, because there weren’t any refuelling planes available.

Oh, and BTW, consulates aren’t “American soil”, and the Benghazi annex wasn’t a consulate anyway.
