Yeah, but it also helps to promote a generally vague “atmosphere of scandal” surrounding Mrs. Clinton. This was the right-wing playbook in the 90’s: Vince Foster, Travelgate, Whitewater…none of it really stuck, but it kept the Clintons on the defensive and allowed the right-wing noise machine to fill the void (“well, X scandal sounds ridiculous, but Clinton hasn’t fought back, so there must be something he/she wants to hide.”). In other words, I agree the issue itself won’t change minds, but insofar as it helps make Clinton look “dirty”, it could diminish her chances generally.
