Will Clayton Locketts Torture be the Rosa Parks moment of the Campaign against judicial killing?

I agree - the government shouldn’t be allowed to whitewash its brutality under doctors and “medical procedures”. If they’re going to kill people, at least they should have the balls to do it honestly.

Thankfully for everyone, justice is delivered by impartial courts and not by the victims of the original crime. Otherwise, imagine what the punishment for genocide would be like.

What if the victim had been an orphan? Would letting the murderer off be OK if that were the case?

“Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.”

Firing squad. Quick, efficient, cheap.

Revenge is not Justice.

Another morally doubtful statement.

Still, it just goes to your morals rather than informing the debate.

You don’t have to be “very wise” to know that murderers and their ilk don’t deserve to live.

The sad thing is that it would be possible to euthanise such people humanely. It is just that the state and the people want it to look like and be suffering.

Just collective blood lust!

And would make the USA seem even more barbaric than its current image.

Then it sounds to me like your beef is with the companies trying to make some kind of statement by refusing to sell safe execution drugs to the state and forcing them to go to a compounding pharmacy to have it made instead.

Please provide the logic behind that statement.

Do all murderers desrve to die, or only poor lack ones?

Yep, that’s why I’m against the death penalty. I’m not, however, in the slightest bit upset that a rapist and murderer died a horrible death.

Allowing the death penalty is wrong because it gives too much power to the justice system, and doesn’t allow for the correction of inevitable mistakes. It’s not wrong because it causes suffering to evil people.

If this guy becomes a poster child for the anti death penalty campaign, then that campaign is fucked up.

But does the government deserve to have the right to kill them?

There’s nothing barbaric about executing someone who deserves to die.

Yes.

Isn’t that the essential problem behind the anti-death penalty campaign? People like Rosa Parks or the Freedom Riders were decent, peaceful guys who were treated unfairly by the system; ie great poster childs.

With the victims of death penalty, you’re never going to get such great poster childs. Nearly all people sentenced to death are either criminals or simply people with whom the general public cannot relate. They do not pass as innocent victims, regardless of how unfairly they are treated.

You commit felony murder, you hang. I’m perfectly OK with that in pretty much all cases.

those are two separate propositions:
1- what is best for society
2- the punishment this guy desrved

He will become a poster child and deservedly so.
