Will my letter get through?

Today I mailed a letter and, instead of a current postage stamp, used two slightly older stamps whose combined worth was well over current postage rates. Think it will go through? I hope so, because it’s my rent and if it’s late I may have to pay a penalty.

I’ll repost with the results in a couple of days.

Yes, it absolutely will. You don’t need a current stamp, only the total cost of postage, currently.

Yes, I overpay a few times a year when I have a package that I fear is over the minimum amount, but I have no scale around to figure out the correct postage. I just throw on a few stamps and send it off.

I have lots of old “makeup” (1¢ and 2¢) stamps, and old first-class postage (like, 41¢) stamps.
I’ll often use 4 or more stamps to mail the (infrequent) letter. They always arrive, no problems.

stamps never loose their face value (USA).
