Will Osborne survive?

Plebgate (Google it :D) takes another twist! Not only does our esteemed Chancellor try to not pay for a first class seat, but he “couldn’t possibly sit in standard class”.

I’ll let someone else Pit him, so I’m opening this thread to discuss his political survival chances.

Poor little rich Gideon.

Sadly, I think he personally will survive. Hopefully this will be one more example of their contempt for ordinary people accidentally showing, and it will be remembered. Still, don’t think this’ll do for George.

Mitchell has just resigned.

If Gideon has any sense, he’ll resign quickly for a comeback later a la Mandelson.

He’s always been unpopular. He got booed when he was giving medals to disabled athletes, FFS.

This is a mountain in a molehill. There’s no way that anyone doing work should have to suffer standard class on presumably a busy train. Hell, I always travel first class on VT which is not that expensive if you book ahead, and it’s a drop in the ocean to his expense account. And Virgin Trains’ spokesman is basically saying that the reporter is making up the key details.

What you could maybe criticse is the silliness of the current rail fare structure but that is another topic!
