Awwww…we just noticed that the 5’ Austrian Pines we planted this summer have been ravaged by the numerous pesky white-tailed deer we have in our area. :smack: It appears that each of the trees have retained their bud caps. Will they survive?
When you say ravaged, what do you mean, exactly? Did they use the trees to molt their antlers? did they eat all needles and bark, and break the limbs?
What kind of damage are we talking about? (oh, also were the trees recently transplanted there or how long have they been in their current locations?)
The trees were transplanted in May of 2010, and we watered and fed them diligently throughout the summer and fall. When I say ravaged, I mean that they ate all the needles (except the tops), and snapped off some of the limbs at the ends. It doesn’t look like they bothered the bark.
