My SO - the conspiracy theorist, tells me that we won’t be getting the smallpox vaccine when it’s ready. He says the reason why is that there is some kind of something in the shot that the government (the secret government) wants to inject the population with. He says that somehow whatever is in the injection will counteract with the chem trails that the government has been letting loose in the skies over America for years.
So I ask him – "What if getting the shot becomes Mandatory?
He says that he has no doubt that it will become mandatory and that the government will let some small town get infected which will make everyone else want to get the injection no matter what.
My SO, he’s a sweet guy, intelligent and kind, but maybe he’s been listening to Art Bell too much??
Almost every one of us received some sort of vaccine as a child. Why didn’t they just put the something in those? Or in the flu shots? Or in the drinking water?
Also, why are they waiting until 2004 to give the shots to the general public?
Besides, why wouldn’t you want to get a shot to counteract the chem trails? You need something to counteract them don’t you?
Sometimes I think life may be more exciting if there WERE a secret government.
And no offense to your lovely SO, who I’m sure makes great cupcakes, but man. Why is it that the one crucial detail that every conspiracy theory is missing is that “something”.

So the contrails are to protect us from bacteriological warfare and the small pox shots are to protect us from the contrails? But the government is doing this with out telling us? Do I have that right?

While I’m dubious that his theory is being secretly tried, his idea does represents a positive, direct effort to reduce global warming. Given his intellect, I assume it might actually work. It’s a reminder that the approach of reducing greenhouse gases is based on political power, or belief system, or something, but not effectiveness.
There are already dozens of mandatory vaccinations. Why would the government need to add Chemical X to the smallpox vaccine, when they can just add it to the whooping cough, measles, mumps, polio, or diptheria vaccines?
Look, if the secret government has so much power, why do they bother keeping secret? How is it that government agents haven’t kidnapped you and reprogrammed you for spreading secrets on the internet?
Not to scare you, Dreamer,but the last conspiracy theorist I personally knew of ended up cutting off his own arm because it was making him masturbate too much. He now resides in a home for “special people.” So, you might want to see how much time your SO spends engaged in …well… you know. (Ogre can back me up on this tale)
And Lemur, perhaps she’s already been reprogrammed and this is part of the ploy of the SuperSecret Government that is Hiding Aliens!
So will you be getting the shot if it does become mandatory? There are some real dangers in getting the injection. What if I don’t want the injection? What will they do to people who reject getting it?
I think I’ll keep quiet on my SO’s answers to the above questions ;).
How can they make it mandatory for an adult to get a shot? Perhaps if you are in the military they can do it. Children they try to hold school over their head but parents who are really against it can get out of it. How can they make the average citizen?
I really don’t see any point in making it mandatory, anyway. Doesn’t the vaccine make you immune to the small-pox virus? So if some people opted not to take it, wouldn’t it just kill them off, and leave the rest of us in small-pox-free happiness? Plus, this would kill off the conspiracy nuts who would refuse to take it, for fear of contracting Something™, thus cleansing the Nutjob Gene from the genepool… no offense to the OP’s SO.
And regarding why the Secret Government doesn’t make themselves known if they have all that power… who was it that said “the greatest trick the devil ever performed was convincing the world he didn’t exist”? Wasn’t that in Usual Suspects, or something?
According to the book Teller’s War, he actually ripped off most of his research from others. The stuff he did solo didn’t ever really pan out. His reputation as a genius, according to the authors, was carefully cultivated by Teller himself through long association with political figures and has little to do with his scientific accomplishments. Might be worth a separate thread; sorry for the hijack.
I think your friend needs to infect himself with Cowpox, therefore becoming smallpox immune without the nasty mind controlling Chemical X, which may spill and make three little girls if the helper monkey knocks down the test tubes.
