Will spinning around too much kill you?

Ok, I’m sure some “researcher” subjected himself to 2G for 24 hours…but I’d like to know “why?”

Basic physics…v=at (at least until we hit relativistic levels).
v=2 x 9.8m/s (1G) x 60 (seconds) x 60 (minutes) x 24 (hours) = 1,693,0440 m/s…still only 0.006 light speed, but clipping along.

In one day at this acceleration, you would travel 74.6 million Km s=(at^2)/2…was he planning on making the trip to Mars in a day?

Personally I’d slow down and smell the coffee at 1G and take the extra day.

The column in question is Will spinning around too much kill you?

(It’s on the front page now, but threads are forever.)

Don’t forget that you would only accelerate for half the distance to Mars; you’d spend the rest of the trip decelerating. =)
