Will the Fort Hood trial have a political effect on President Obama?

Good…hopefully, it will be 13 life sentences. As a high level parapeligic, he won’t last long in any case.

More likely he stays in military custody - at Ft. Leavenworth, presumably.

The guy’s going to be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. I wonder how well-equipped the facilities at Leavenworth are for someone with his condition.

If the death penalty would be carried out, what method is used? I think the guy in 1961 was hanged, but I need to check up on that.

ETA: It would be lethal injection. Found it in Wikipedia.

Anyone else thinking of the scene in Blazing Saddles where they’re hanging a guy in a wheelchair? :stuck_out_tongue:

Wasn’t there a rope around the horse’s neck too?

That’s how I remember it, yes.

There was a guy in a wheelchair, and also a guy on a horse.

Hasan has been sentenced to death.

When it happens, twenty years or so from now (if he even lives that long), hardly anyone will remember why.

Maybe even longer. The longest-sitting Military Death Row inmate was sentenced in 1988, did not have the death writ signed until 2008, and is still hanging in there after a court stay.

If that happens for Hasan I expect we will hear it’s Obama’s fault, somehow.

Of course I suspect Hasan isn’t going to appeal his sentence. I’m not sure how that will affect the process.

God damn it. Way to give him exactly what he wanted: martyrdom.

Dance, you puppets, DANCE!!!

There is a mandatory appeal, whether he wants it or not:

*In courts martial, appellate review is mandatory and cannot be waived or withdrawn when the sentence includes death. Under military law, any sentence calling for more than one year of incarceration gets an automatic review by the Army Court of Military Review, which then goes to the Armed Forces Court of Appeals.
