Later this week, I am going to start a crowdfunding project that will enable me to buy enough writing time to finish the Chtorr series. The project will officially start in Feb., but I’ll start working out the details, with your cooperation, here.
This is only for people so impatient to read the next book that they’re willing to become a patron of the art.
In which the author attempts to force a certain vocal portion of his readers to “put up or shut up.” If the crowdfunder is unsuccessfully funded, it will then be their fault that the book is delayed yet further.
I know I’m reading too much into that, but my recent rereading (as mentioned some months ago) of the first 2 books leaves me with little to no desire to read anything further written in that vein. Ah well. Guess that makes me part of the crowd that needs to either do it better or shut up.
Hot diggity. Long, long ago, he petitioned people to buy a small role in the book for a contribution to charity of his choice. I ponied up, and at a time when the exchange rate was not to my advantage. I hope he honours the deal, because I’m looking forward to a gruesome death.
As David’s editor at Tor Books, I’m happy to confirm that he has turned in a draft of book 5, A METHOD FOR MADNESS, and is working on the final two volumes. Keep an eye on Tor.com for more news about this as the work proceeds and a new schedule can finally be set.
As a fan of this series since I wrote a rave review of the first book for Publishers Weekly in 1983, and bought the first two books for the Science Fiction Book Club a couple of years later, I’ve made it my mission to see the series completed. I can assure you that David is dedicated to that goal.
