Will there ever be (or is there now) another show like The Twilight Zone?

Not a GQ, because it involves opinions.

I’m 30 years old, so the original run of the Twilight Zone was before my time. Although I saw it in syndication as a kid, it was mostly lost on me (I preferred the bug-eyed monsters of The Outer Limits, which was also a good show).

However, last weekend on the Sci-Fi Channel they had a Twilight Zone marathon, and I really loved almost every episode.

Is there or could there ever be another show like this? Not necessarily sci-fi, but an anthology of stories, some of them written by well-known authors? Could only a Rod Serling-type obsessive pull something like this off? Would it be popular?

I certainly hope there eventually will be another show like the Twilight Zone (or even Alfred Hitchcock Presents). Some sort of drama with excellent scripts that doesn’t feature a regular cast. (I enjoyed watching a pre-Kirk pre-Priceline William Shatner freaking out about the gremlin on the wing of the plane.)

It would be difficult to pull off. With great scripts, it’s possible, but it would probably be much more expensive today. The sets were pretty bare on the episodes I saw, and today’s standards for that sort of thing are much higher.

Up here we have “Perversions of Science” which although along the same vein is kinda weak. There’s also “the Outer Limits” whick kicks butt.

You took the words right out of my mouth (or, considering the medium, “right off of my fingertips.”)
