There was a 30 Rock episode–the only one I’ve ever watched, in fact–in which Harry Anderson and Markie Post appeared, as themselves, to “star” in one character’s dream series finale of Night Court; as their 80s characters, they got married.
I’m sorry I missed that. Night Court wasn’t exactly Shakespeare, but everyone had a certain flair that worked well together. It would have been interesting to see what’s become of them.
My first thought was also Mary and Lou, and Mary and Murray. Murray always had a crush on Mary.
Every man in the station was in love with Mary. Possibly every man in the city. I’m not convinced that even Sue Ann’s affection for Mary was entirely innocent of carnal imaginings.
First of all, Buddy was married.
Second of all…eeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!
Our glimpse into the future at the beginning of the last season leaves it up to viewers to decide if Josh and Donna are still a couple, but they’re definitely still close by the way that things are addressed.
Another couple that ultimately didn’t is Grace Van Owen and Michael Kuzak on L.A. Law.
Lois and Clark getting together was a JTS moment? I thought the entire purpose of the series all along was getting them hooked up.
I always saw the Janeway/Chakotay relationship as more of a platonic relationship. I didn’t get any sexual overtones from them, more like a brother/sister type of bond.
The Futurama movies are out on DVD. In fact, they were released before Comedy Central split them into episodes and aired them. The series doesn’t start again until 2010, so you should be able to catch up easily.
Also, having read your clarification on Voyage and the Chakotay/Janeway relationship, it’s more clear to me now why it was handled as clumsily as it was.
James Bond and Miss Moneypenny (in the movies anyway).
Morgan and Garcia on Criminal Minds. There is lots of flirting, pet names and real emotional connection both ways, but so far they haven’t. Although, I think they might have in the episode where she is targeted by the serial killer if it weren’t for that pesky having a lunitic try to kill them thing.
See, I think it’s pretty clear in the last few episodes that they are together (at least “for now” - we don’t know if they’re going to get married or anything).
Donna had been doing her whole, “you have 4 weeks” thing, they go on vacation together before Josh loses whatever sanity he has left, and then they wake up in the same bed at the beginning of Inauguration Day.
So it wasn’t explicit, but it was definitely implicit, IMO.
All that said, that show, its characters, and its stories were so good that they could have kept going for years, as far as I’m concerned.
Or Cuddy & Wilson.
Since House is still on the air, we can’t know which couples may or may not get together by the end of the series finale.
Murphy Brown Murphy and Eldin, Corky and Miles, Murphy and Frank
Murphy and Frank may have hooked up in the past (backstory). I think Frank knew her a long time back in Murphy’s drinking days.
Eldin practically moved into Murphy’s house. He even babysit for her.
Torg and Zoe in Sluggy Freelance, given that
Zoe was killed by Oasis just as she realized she had feelings for Torg.
