You’re taking sides with the party who’s leader has relaxed your military’s rules of engagement, expressed a desire have prisoners tortured and their families murdered, and publicly encouraged police violence. This is true. If the goal is to remove all guns from everyone so that only the police and military have them then yeah.
But that’s not the goal, and the second amendment was not written to protect target shooting, hunting, or home defense. It was not written to make the citizens of a republic a weapon of the state to do the states bidding, it was written, like rest of the constitution and its amendments as a safeguard for the people.
I hate that massacres happen, and I hate gun crime, but it makes me quite proud that groups like the NRA have so many members that they are larger than any standing army on the planet, and that’s just NRA members.
It boggles my mind why some people would want to remove rights from themselves.

How many times have you used your guns to defend yourself or someone else? How many times have you been in a situation where you felt like you needed a gun to do so? Just curious. I’ve lived in some dangerous neighborhoods and cities and have never once been afraid or felt like I needed a gun. This is not to say you have had the same life experiences I have. I’m just trying to understand this need you and others have.

This should make you double over with laughter-My nephew was discharged from the Marines right after he was diagnosed with PTSD. He couldn’t get the help he needed from the military because of the incredibly long waiting periods, but do you know what was easy and didn’t take a long time to do? Legally acquiring a gun. He borrowed my brother’s car, pulled over on the Interstate, and self-medicated all the pain and misery he carried.
