Will this work? Fabric Dying Question

I have a lovely, wool-look wrap. It’s made of a very soft spun acrylic. It’s Putrid lime green. (my M-I-L gave it to me  )
Can I dye it a different color? Say brown or black? Will the dye take on acrylic?

Not a real answer, but its worth a try.

What good is an ugly ass piece of clothing that you’ll never wear because of the color.

If you try it and ruin it, oh well, no great loss, right?

You can dye it but it may not hold the dye well. It may turn out to be lighter than you expect, or it may bleed when washed. After your final rinse, soak it in about 2 gallons of water with 1 cup of white vinigar. That may help it hold the dye.
*Don’t forget to run a full cycle with soap through your washer after you’re finished, or everything you own will be the color if your wrap.
Good luck

http://www.dharmatrading.com/ - these people know dyes and dyeing procedures, and I’ve been told they give very good advice. Your ordinary Rit dye that you can get in a supermarket isn’t going to do much for acrylic.
