I’m looking for a new series on Audible for another of my endless trips and was wondering if any 'dopers have read the series and if it’s worth getting? No spoilers, please, just want to know if it’s an interesting story worth starting.

I read the first one (“Legion of the Damned”) about 12 years ago, and wasn’t impressed. Mind you, I’m not one of these guys who will blather on about not liking a book because of writing style or word choice. Generally, if it’s got a good story and is entertaining, I’ll read it and enjoy it.
This book wasn’t either one- about the only interesting part was the cyborg troopers- they were kind of interesting.
It was OK. The French Foreign Legion stuff was interesting. If you’re the kind of person who’ll focus on the internal inconsistencies in a story (and I certainly am) like it takes weeks for interstellar travel in the beginning of the book, but only hours by the end of the book, you’ll find it irritating.
