Willy Wonka's Appearance in the new Tim Burton Film

Good heavens. The sheer stupidity found in the comments at the bottom of vivalostwages link might have actualy caused me to lose a couple IQ points.

Hmm. Can’t spell actualy anymore. Yep, those IQ ponts are gone. Damn.

Hmm, well that’s a letdown. Although I suppose this version really is more faithful to the book.

Gah, it looks like Fear and Loathing in Wonkaland.

Hmm, I don’t like Johnny here either. Too young, for starters.

::shrugs::

I’ll wait until the movie comes out, though I am curious to see what they’ll make of it. I loved Gene Wilder’s Wonka

I’d just like to point out that the same kind of misgivings were uttered about Depp appearing in a movie based on a ride at Disneyland, and look what happened with that?

Roald Dahl, folks. His entire schtick is all about dark weird creepy stuff happening in a surrealistic environment. If that doesn’t suit Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, then I don’t know of anyone better.

Somehow, the poster reminds me more of Tom Petty in the video for “Running down a dream”, or maybe “Don’t come arounfd here no more.”

That looks like something out of Barbarella.

I tend to agree, except Howard Shore did the score for “Ed Wood” and it was fantastic.

I still say if we have to have a new Wonka movie, it should have been Tim Curry!

I’m in the middle of a dilemma, here. I hate Willy Wonka, and have since I was a child. I love Johnny Depp, and have since Nightmare on Elm Street. I hate remakes. I love Tim Burton.

I’ve decided that the only thing to do is go out and buy the book at lunchtime. Maybe if I can get Gene Wilder out of my head, I’ll be ready to enjoy the movie when it comes out.

This is odd: my SO is under the impression that this movie is not a remake, but a sequel to the first film. That would mean that Depp is playing a grown-up Charlie who now runs the chocolate factory.

This makes little sense to me, looking at the trailer – it looks like it depicts the same events as the first film and the books.

Tim Curry has grown way too round in his 50’s. He would be a good choice if we could have him in the same shape he was in when he played the good Doctor Furter.

Dung Beetle I love Tim! That would have been interesting (or creepy…I’m invisioning a Rocky Horror Wonka  )

Rocky Horror Wonka…mmmmmmm, yummy!

I can’t be the only one who’s going to spend the rest of the afternoon writing the songs for such a spectacular.
