Win XP: Almost constant/repeating updates?

First I followed Mindfield’s advice, and then yours.

I suspect that it still wants to download that CAPICOM thing again, but I’m just going to shut down without installing updates, at least most of the time.

You should be able to tell Windows to never ask you about that update again, too. I have my updates set to download automatically but let me install myself. So once things are downloaded, I can click “Custom” (instead of “Express”) which gives you a list of updates ready to install. I forget the exact step I use next but it’s something along the lines of un-checking an update then hitting “Cancel.” It then gives you the option to “Never ask me about this update again” or something. And it never does.

Sorry if these instructions are a little vague - kind of hard for me to run through it at the moment to tell you exactly what I do

It’s okay—I just came back online a minute ago and got the message, unchecked the box and told it never to bother me with that again.

Thank you, everyone. I knew that the Doper community would help.
