Winamp?

Alright guys, my wonderful hubby and I had downloaded a bunch of music a while back into winamp.
The problem we are having now is that we both like different music, and we both have songs stored in the same winamp.
The question I pose to you is is there someway, or another program that I can put my music in so as I don’t have to weed through his crap?
Mind you it must be simple as I am a natural blonde.

Cant you save playlists in winamp? I am pretty sure that you can. If not, you can with musicmatch. All you do is put all of your songs in the playlist then got to file/save/playlist.

  1. Add whatever you like.
  2. Sort it out to your hearts content
  3. go to the right side of the playlist.
  4. Click on the “Load” button.
  5. Scroll up to save and click on it.
  6. Give it the name you like. Like “MY STUFF”. Or whatever.
  7. Enjoy.

Now, this works until you get the urge to sort your MP3’s into directories and sub-directories. If you change the location of the file, Winamp can’t find it and skips over it. Otherwise, have fun!

We have one playlist.
I want them separate.
We have music saved all over the place. (Yeah, we’re pretty organised.)
But it is possible to have two playlist through winamp? If not then I will try another program.

Know what else I like about MusicMatch? You can burn cd’s from your Mp3’s directly from MusicMatch. Good stuff and free to boot.

You can have any number of playlists. I suggest that you start by organizing your MP3s in one location. Then you can simply drag 'n drop folders or individual MP3s into Winamp when you want to listen to them. After that, you can follow St. Zero’s instructions for saving the playlists. Winamp really is the best player out there, everything else I’ve seen tries to be less user-friendly, more crash prone, and/or it display ads.

Load that playlist, weed out the songs you don’t want, and save that as your own playlist, with a different name than the original. Then your husband loads the original list, weeds out your stuff, and saves his list under a separate name.

As already mentioned, when you move songs, they won’t play on the original list anymore. You might want to just create two separate folders, and move your mp3s from their original locations. Then, you can go to your folder, select all files, and by right-clicking, you can select “Play in Winamp”. Then, save the playlist.

If your PC has a fairly new processor, you can also choose one of the visualization options for some cool effects on your screen.
