Wind and the ancients

So, what did various ancient groups think wind was?

Did they all recongnize it as a material pushing on things? Or did some see it as an invisible force of some kind?

Were there ancient peoples to whom it just didn’t occur taht there is a such thing as “air?” I specifically remember learning about air when I was a very young child. It was a significant moment for me - realizing that there was this invisible stuff all around me.

But maybe I was just stupid… :wink:
