Windows 10 Upgrade

I just noticed when I restarted my computer, that I have the option of upgrading to Windows 10. So, I’ve a few questions regarding that:
[ol][li]What are the advantages of upgrading?[/li][li]What are the disadvantages of upgrading?[/li][li]If I do upgrade, will all my programs continue to work?[/li][li]If I do upgrade, will all my saved passwords remain saved?[/ol][/li]
That’s all I can think of to ask right now.

There’s another thread in progress, but I think it’s stalled. The short answer seems to be that Win 10 is a good one and that upgrades (based on those who have done it using the tech release) are smooth and trouble-free.

It’s much like Win 7: all the good core updates of Vista, with the interface and other marketing-driven BS dropped or relegated to a back seat.

So it doesn’t negate all the previous programs, passwords, and authorizations?

Here’s the earlier thread.

I’d wait six months before committing to it, so that other brave souls weather the teething problems.

I’ll take your advice, GuanoLad. I don’t want to get caught short in China with programs that I can’t get taken care of thanks to the GFWOC.

Hello all,
I’ve just moved from 8.1 to 10 on both the PC and phone.
I’ve opened a thread ‘ask the imbecile’ if you’ve any queries.
Essentially PC good Phone bad.

The only real downside I’ve seen so far is that you will lose the Windows games and DVD-player support from Windows 7. I posted workarounds in the other thread.

Though, if you don’t want to read people arguing once again about windows 8, here’s a link to my post. Though feel free to just get the Solitaire, Hearts, and Minesweeper from Microsoft.

Look out for Candy Crush, though, which will come pre-installed.

I’ve never gotten into candy crush or the like games because of the color-coding. Yes, my color-blindness is that severe. I don’t play Klondike (prefer a number of other solitaire games), Minesweeper bores me to tears, and Hearts sucks almost as much as the worst card game of all time Spades.

Just don’t wait more than a year or you’ll have to pay for it. (does that sound dirty?) Also, it’s the last numbered version of windows. All improvements will be in the form of automatic, mandatory updates.
