WINDOWS 10 upgrade

I do not know why I upgraded to this but I did and I am trying to get used to it.

My question is why is there extra extensions on a simple address I have imported from my old browser:

example when I choose to use Google search engine I would click on my fav and
www.gogle.com is pasted to the address bar. but with this new operating system I see this, Google

What is this 7gws_rd=ssl ???

That’s just Google redirecting you to the https version of their site.

Your old bookmark is probably something like “http://www.google.com” and if you go to a non-ssl address at google you get redirected to a secure one.

If you change the bookmark to “https://www.google.com” it won’t do that anymore.

it’s something Google is doing, not Windows.

Ok, Thank very much!

May I ask another dumb question??

I use the magnifier all the time but I find I have to sweep right all the time to access the edge so I can scroll up and down the page. the up-down arrows seem to only work when I have the cursor on the up arrow or down then I can use the keyboard arrow.
I do not use the mouse, just the touch pad .
And this was also the way my old operating system worked but I had view of the whole screen with a zoom I could use!
This system 25% zoom and I have to sweep right and left all the time.
Thank you, Please
Greg

It’s true the arrows don’t work very well with the Magnifier in Windows 10.

To scroll without using the arrows, many touchpads offer :

  • Special areas along the right and bottom edges of the touchpad, which act as scroll bars;
  • (for newer computers) A 2-finger gesture: move 2 fingers in parallel on the touchpad to scroll.

(I don’t have a Windows 10 computer with a touchpad to try this on.)

The magnifier is a tool of last resort. If you’re having trouble reading smaller text on web pages (like I am), first try:

  1. Changing the browser zoom size by pushing CTRL-+ (control plus) and control minus.

  2. Change the Windows 10 font sizes: windows 10 - Change system font size - Super User

Both of those can make text and other screen elements larger without the painful, awkward zooming of Magnifier.

If you must use the Magnifier, you can also click anywhere on the web browser (or whatever app you actually want to scroll) and using the page up and page down keys instead of the arrow keys. On a laptop, you may or may not have to hold down a Fn (function) key in addition to the page up/down keys.

That’s usually a function of the touchpad and its drivers, not any particular version of Windows. Nonetheless, Gbro, they’re definitely worth investigating! If your touchpad hardware supports it, you might just have to download updated Windows 10 drivers from your laptop manufacturer’s website.

Sorry I didn’t reply back promptly but I do thank you all for the tips and its always rewarding to know that its not only me that has struggled with an issue :smack:
