I have an issue with my Windows 7 Professional that is driving me crazy. Every time my computer goes into sleep mode or shuts down, my clock gets off by 9 minutes. Never more than 9. I googled the problem and my search showed that I should change the battery. I called the IT guy and he did. Still having the problem, I called the IT guy again and he again changed the battery thinking it may have been a faulty replacement. Still changing the time. Anyone know why this would be happening if not the battery and what I can do about it?
Which battery was changed? The main battery or the cmos battery (the one on the system board)?
What is the make/model of the laptop? Is it still under warranty?
Is your computer connected to an Active Directory domain? The domain should provide the correct time.
If not, you can create a job in task scheduler to periodically sync your time to a time server, or use a freeware tool like http://www.timesynctool.com/ to do it for you.
Fins, you are my hero. Whatever that tool is, it totally worked. THANK YOU!!!
Glad I could help!
Windows clock has auto-sync .. since XP ! I think he had this off.
