I have been getting a TON of errors on my comp. PGP closes as soon as the cpu starts up! The desktop icons sometimes won’t work because of a directory error of some sort. I just restarted and my sound card couldn’t locate my math coprocessor, so I can’t play MIDI files. Sounds to me that I need to backup and reformat the hard drive. I have done this on many macs, but never on a PC, any suggestions?

It would help if we knew what kind of computer it was, what version of Windows, stuff like that.
Generally speaking, your computer, with its version of Windows, should have come with a CD called the “Restore” CD, or “System CD”, or something like that. Put it in the CD drive and it ought to walk you through reformatting your hard drive.
Also, don’t laugh, but–make sure everything in the back of the computer is plugged in properly, good and snug. You’d be surprised…

what? say again? can you tell me exactly what message you got? This is the first time I hear of a sound card losing a math coprocessor.
The other day, while at Office Depot, I was looking around in the store and came across a book i think about how to fix those annoying error messages that pop up at the stupidest times. Like, when you close out of a program or something. Quite annoying. Go to your local book store, or computer store, and they should have something on it…
