Windows ME question from desperate Mac user

Sorry to ask something so boring amongst all the interesting questions, but I am having trouble with Windows Me. I had to get rid of the Magistr worm, but in doing so seem to have deleted some files that certain apps need to work.

All the programs I need are working. Those that aren’t are one which autoload at the start. When I reboot, I get error messages saying “x.dll is not available” etc.

But I don’t know what these autoload programs are. Is there any way I can find out? Chances are they’re things I don’t even want autoloading anyway, so could just disable or delete them.

I know about CTRL+ALT+DEL to show currently-running programs. How do I find load-at-start ones?

Thanks in advance!

To see what programs run at startup, click on start, then run, then type msconfig, then click on the Startup tab.

Cool, thank you!

If you search the net for the file you need, often you can download it from the net. Also, I use SystemSuite2000 it can correct messages like that in the registry for me.

¿Que? The last I knew CTRL+ALT+DEL rebooted!

When did CTRL+ALT+DEL replace the “mem” command? (My favorite version was “mem /c /p”. )

Wow! Am I out of date! :frowning:

Sea Sorbust, what system are you using, Windows 3.1 or something?!? In anything later than Win 95 CTRL-ALT-DEL brings up the Task Manager.

But doing it a second time will reboot you! You have now been warned!
