Windows Picture and Fax viewer in XP question

When I view a *.TIF picture by double clicking, I get something that opens the file and I can view the picture. This is some default viewer with XP. The Title bar says Windows Picture and Fax viewer.

When I go to print it (printer icon at the bottom, no menu options here) and the TIFF is a multipage TIFF, there is no proble, I am shown the thumbnail images of the multipage TIFF where I can check the ones I want to print (all are checked by default).

BUT here in the problem:

When the TIFF is a single page, this viewer then looks for more pictures to display in those thumbnails, this takes a considerable amount of time. This is very upsetting. The only image that is checked in this instance is the 1 page, but other images are displayed that I couldn’t care less about.

I need to know:

Mainly how I can speed it up. Perferably by just displaying the thumbnail image of the single page TIFF by itself, other then that a way to have the computer chose some fast tiffs to display so it doesn’t take as much time, or a way to manually clear it out from time to time (to limit the list and speed things up.)

This may be an issue with photo printing wizard, another XP default
