Is your CDROM operating at max speed? Mine wasn’t, but it is now. Check out this link to see what YOURS is doing.

Turns out my cdrom prefers to be known as a single speed, with maximum memory cache, instead of the quad speed or higher setting I had it at. The data transfer is now double what it used to be. DOUBLE!
Anyways, check it out, and be careful, becasue some of this stuff could cause your system problems if you are careless, and don’t follow the instructions.
